AI Expo Africa 2019 Welcomes Women in AI SA as newest community partner

Women in AI (WAI) is a non-profit working towards gender-inclusive AI that benefits global society.  Our mission is to increase female representation and participation in AI.  We are a community-driven initiative bringing empowerment, knowledge and active collaboration via education, research, events, and blogging.  Across the globe our rapidly expanding community has over 2,000 members in 90 countries.

There was much anticipation and excitement for the WaiTALK in Johannesburg, the inaugural event for the South African chapter, on the 6th August 2019 – Fraud Detection in Financial Services at the Altron BSI offices, tickets sold-out quickly.

To begin the night, attendees from a mix of backgrounds, industries and career stages networked over drinks, nibbles and a passion for AI as well as a hunger to drive and support the initiative to close the gender gap.

The event would not have been possible without our speakers Kristel Sampson, Donalda Pretorius, Natalie Raphi(Robots can Think), Samantha Ngindi(Department of e-Government) and sponsor. Altron BSI represented by Hina Patel.
