We welcome Telkom as they join AI Expo Africa 2019 as Silver Sponsor

In 2013 Telkom had significant challenges to address. It had declining financial performance, its mobile position was weak, it needed to pay a Competition Tribunal fine of R449m, and the share price had plummeted to R13 per share.  By 2018 Telkom had overcome many of these critical challenges, creating portfolio growth through the acquisition of BCX, developing more competitive wholesale and retail pricing structures, and delivering strong profit uplift through cost efficiencies. The share price had rocketed to reach R97 per share.

But Stefan Steffen, Lead Data Scientist at Telkom Strategic Insights, says the race is not won yet. Visit the Telkom exhibit at the AI Expo Africa on 4 and 5 September to see how the Telkom group is developing its data centric culture, investing in future skill and technologies, and becoming AI first to deliver on its customer promises and business strategies.

Stefan, Lead Data Scientist at Telkom, will be speaking at AI Expo Africa 2019

Telkom’s commitment to innovation and skills development in South Africa has been visionary and its efforts to accelerate South African investment in the Fourth Industrial Revolution has been tireless. As such we are excited to partner with AI Expo Africa in support of the ground-breaking work that they are doing in building out the African AI Ecosystem.

This year’s event will see a range of new features, ensuring maximized and immersive learning experiences for CxOs, entrepreneurs, inventors, and investors – including an African AI Demo Zone, AI Innovation Cafe, AI Art & Music Challenge, Innovation Wall, as well as a series of intensive executive and skills development workshops. “Telkom is excited to form part of the 36 vendors exhibiting in the Expo Hall where our team will showcase the transformative work happening across the Telkom Group businesses”, said Stefan Steffen, Lead Data Scientist of Telkom Strategic Insights.
